More than meets the eye- The 24 Hour retreat

Some of the most wonderful things in the world are invisible.
— The Girl Who Drank the Moon

The thing about retreating is, it’s really hard to get there.  Women do not prioritize themselves for fear of feeling guilt for wanting to help themselves.

We’ve all been there. The calendar feels like a swirl of endless events for us or our family or work. It’s hard to step away and get time away. Committing to budget for yourself and leave your inbox, your family, your home and travel to recharge.

Luckily, the tides of change are coming. By 2030, women will control the majority of wealth in the US. It means more choice, power and control of our health from the inside out, from root to crown.

I love The 24 hour retreat concept I developed. It’s a quick, practical reset.

Here’s what I do know about The 24 hour retreat once you arrive. You are allowing yourself to rest. When you brain is open, like in the shower, you can single-task your way to new things about yourself you might have lost or forgotten.

Doubling down on a quick vacation day with women only, there is a female reality when we share our deep desires, fears and no longer apologize for being where we are.

Women only retreats haven’t always been part of my ecosystem. I was missing out!

Truth bomb: I refused to join women’s networks in my 25 years in corporate workplaces. Mentors were different for me, meeting 1.1 very safe to me. Large, multi-layered women’s networks tended, in the early 2000s, to be manipulative and mandatory, without authenticity. After college, even my roommates were all men, just to avoid drama. Perhaps I had wounds from nasty female aggression in the workplace and on sports teams, but I had given up on joining the Women’s Communities I was asked to join for a long time.

I often thought, “are women friendships and support possible in groups? Can I only have 1.1 coffee dates to find out more about what’s under the hood of their lives and careers?” Luckily, I made my way back to women established businesses, groups, masterminds after my kids were born.  I have a tapestry of females who I lean on, unabashedly.

Through classes in coaching leadership, change management, yoga, reiki and my tennis crew, I have found a softer way to approach women. To be held by friends feels different.

When allowed to openly share, there’s a softness that comes in a group of women gathered to chill out, learn and laugh. And Holy Shit, real support is magic.

Women are indeed snowflakes,  with our own histories and future goals. I can be so scary to admit that we might feel lost over the years.  Our common bond is the need to swiftly take care of ourselves; showing up as our best-rested selves is the only way to be present for our families and work.

Retreats or classes or a workshop can feel out of your comfort zone but that’s your flight or fight response. Stepping away for a day or a weekend to find room to change doesn’t have to feel like a panic attack but instead a slow burn of a candlestick. The soft haze of the light evoking the new spark you’ve been missing.

Not everyone has the ability to get away so I’ve created an offering for FREE. Join us at the end of Feb for a daily clarity prompt. Drop your email here!

////Another thank you to everyone who participated and supported my guests at The 24 Hour Retreat 2024, Fairfield, CT.

The retreat offered a look at our past selves and released a lot of what is holding us back. We dove into future selves with a foundation of new human design details.

Thank you to my special team who helped lead and teach a portion of The 24 Hour retreat, 2024.
