It’s an outside job-5 Clarity Boundaries

The work of clarity can seem like an inside job, and frankly, it is. Just for today, focus on external boundaries to eliminate blurry vision that block your clarity.

Here are my must haves to set Energy boundaries to Guide you to Clarity.

Want more on boundaries, check out a few books I’ve been recommending that deep dive here.

I Establish Clear Communication with YOURSELF:

Clearly communicate your priorities to others, whether it's your colleagues, friends, or family members only when you are ready. First, you must get clear for yourself. Communicating with yourself can be taking voice notes, writing to do lists or back of a napikin moments. Your energy needs this comms.

II. Create Physical Boundaries:

Some of this is a hangover from covid, but don’t blur lines of work, home, life, kids, families, art, etc.Designate specific spaces for different activities, such as a separate workspace for focused work or a quiet area for relaxation. This physical separation can help signal to yourself and others that you're in a certain mode and should not be disturbed. I have a new office that is so zen. My upstairs office was too close to chores and a messy closet I wanted to organize.

III. Set Time Boundaries:

Allocate specific time periods for different activities and commitments. For example, you can establish dedicated work hours, leisure time, and rest periods. I know in corporate america, Fridays tend to be catch up days so my friends are for clients who squeeze in coaching or a doctor appointment or a non-urgent set of meetings. Stick to these boundaries as much as possible to avoid overextending yourself or neglecting important aspects of your life.

IV. Just to Say No:

The phrase is often “learn to say no” but I think No is a “rip-the-bandaid-off-scream-it-out” moment. No is the one time black and white thinking is necessary.

It's important to recognize your limits and not take on more than you can handle. Practice saying no to smaller requests or tasks that don't align with your priorities or overwhelm your schedule. This allows you to protect your time and energy for what truly matters.

V. Prioritize Self-space:

Make alone time or breaks a priority by setting boundaries around activities that help you recharge and maintain your well-being. We schedule so much for our families but forget ourselves.

This can include activities like exercise, meditation, cooking, baking, travel, reading, hobbies, or spending quality time with loved ones. By dedicating time to self-care and putting on your calendar, you're investing in your overall energy and resilience.

Remember, setting boundaries is a personal journey, and it may take time to find the right balance. It's important to assess your needs, be consistent, and adjust as necessary to maintain a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.
