Lessons from a Lululemon Event: A Love Letter while wearing Stretchy Pants

Back in the early 2000s, when I lived under the California sun, Lululemon was more than clothing—it was a second skin, wrapping me and my friends in buttery-soft fabrics as we moved through life. From morning hikes to late-night conversations over wine, we wore those leggings like armor, not just for the stretch but for the sense of belonging they gave us. Athleisure wasn’t just a style; it was a rhythm, a way of being.

What I didn’t realize back then, but feel so clearly now, is that those lulus were more than cozy easy outfits—they were stitching together a quiet kind of community. One that breathes between the lines of everyday moments.

That same energy pulsed through the Lululemon event I co-hosted this October weekend at the Westport store.

Walking in felt like stepping into a wave that had just the right flow—familiar, inviting, alive. Movement met breath, and people met each other in that sweet space between intention and ease. No forced small talk, no pretenses—just bodies moving, breaths syncing, hearts opening, and yes, the occasional shared smile in tree pose (it’s inevitable, right?).

It’s these simple, unpolished moments—where movement and presence weave into each other—that remind me what community really is: showing up as we are, together. No filters or polished performances. Just people being people, in yoga pants, top knots and open minds.

This event felt like a gentle nudge from the universe, aligning perfectly with what’s been whispering to me as Bianca & I prepare for the January retreat: community isn’t something we can force —it’s something we uncover, together when we show up. It’s already there, waiting to be felt and nurtured in the spaces where we slow down enough to reconnect—with ourselves, and for each other.

That’s the energy of what’s in store at The Weekend Within—a retreat that invites us to move, breathe, shift, reflect, and simply be. Not in a way that feels forced or overly curated, but in a way that flows naturally, like the rhythm of the tide and of the moon.

Just like Lululemon has spent years cultivating a culture that transcends clothing, the retreat will be about more than the activities on the schedule. It’ll be about the energy we share—the kind that moves in between conversations, in the quiet moments of stillness, and in the freedom to stretch into who we are, without hesitation.

By the end of the event Saturday , I realized: it’s never just about the leggings. It’s about the way they’ve held space for so much more—for growth, connection, and moments that feel light, easy, and meaningful

.

That’s the energy I want to bring into the retreat—a place where we arrive just as we are, reconnect with the parts of ourselves we’ve missed, and leave lighter, freer, and deeply connected. Because when we show up like that—for ourselves and for each other—that’s when magic happens.
